I really wasn't expecting this and for the book loving girl that I am, whose shelves are buckling under the weight of all her books, this really is the most PERFECT gift!

I really do have the most amazing Mr ever!

Due for release Monday, I will be picking up 'Dolphin Tale' and snuggling down with my kiddies to watch Monday Afternoon.

looks to be like lovely family viewing and will appeal to both my children even with the large age gap (13 and 4).

Of course, the heartless little sods will have the added pleasure of watching Mummy sob into her pillow too, something that they always seem to enjoy.

Sunday Baking

It's been a long weekend and not in a good way either, having no heating in this bitter cold weather has been no fun and certainly makes you realise just how much we take for granted.
Thankfully it's all sorted now but I think I will be miss the early snuggly nights.

Yesterday, to keep warm I shut myself in the kitchen with the oven on and did a little baking.

Good ol' vanilla cupcakes with a delicious vanilla frosting .................................

and warm molten-centred chocolate cupcakes.............................

which really did need to be eaten warm otherwise the chocolate centre re-hardens and to be honest I found these a little dry so maybe a little tweaking to the recipe is needed.

Both recipes were taken from my new cupcake mag............................

I think I will try the pink lemonade ones next, they sound rather yummy!

With the fun stuff out of the way, it was time for some serious cooking, well as serious as it gets for Me. Whilst I enjoy spending time in the kitchen, I do enjoy simple cooking.

So simple, it's unreal...............................

I just rolled out the shop bought pastry, put a thin spreading of tomato puree (normally I would make my own but this was straight from a jar) and then topped with cheddar cheese, mozzerella, spinach and pesto.

Normally I do this with just mozzerella and spinach (even simpler) and both my kiddies said the prefer the more basic one but this one tasted even beter cold.

Tonights offering is french onion soup............................. straight from the tin but I am going to make some flapjacks.

It's a tad chilly isn't it?

Who am I kidding, it's flippin freezing and doesn't help that we have no heating.
Sat here, wrapped up with a scarf around my neck and the only reason I don't have my mittens on is because I'm typing, waiting and hoping that even this time of night the landlord will get back to us.
Oh the joys of renting, the reality is that it looks like we're a little buggered for the weekend.
What a time for the heating to pack up :o(

I think we will all be taking ourselves off to bed early and getting snuggly under the duvet.

At least I have 'New Girl' to watch and a pile of mags.......................................

I think there is quite possibly more delicious recipes in there than in a lot of my cupcake books so a bit of a bargain really at £4.99 compared to the price of a lot of the books I have.
I'm looking forward to trying some of them out!

The Greatest Love Story

I've always been a little intrigued by the love story of 'Edward and Mrs Simpson' but must confess to only ever really knowing the basics.

Having, only this morning watched a trailer for the soon to be released W.E........................

I must say, I am very much looking forward to this, not being a great cinema goer with it generally taking something pretty awesome to get me there, I think this could be one of those films.

I also came scross this book.........................

the biography of 'Wallis Simpson' and very quickly added it to my wishlist.

A subject, as I said that has intrigued Me for so long, now I may actually learn something about what some say is 'The Greatest Love Story' of our time!

Smashing, Wrecking, Reading, Building

I caved, after thinking I could make my own SMASH book, I decided to order not one but two........................................

and a few accessories too.......................

Ordered late Saturday night and arrived yesterday morning, not bad EH?

I was a little concerned that once they arrived I may of regretted spending money on them that I really couldn't afford to spend but I have to say I wasn't dissappointed.
These books really are fab but I'm not sure I'm ready to start SMASHING yet, the pages really are quite awesome and and I'm going to struggle covering them

Whilst talking to a couple of friends on facebook about these books it has put Me in the mood to get wrecking again................................

an easy reading, can't put down kind of book that I'm loving!

As for the little man, he's building.........................

I must confess to having a little giggle when, after my 'Bad Mummy' post, I lost a follower.
Was said person offended that my 4 year old has a mouth like a sewer or perhaps that I was too damn lazy to get off my backside and make him a good wholesome breakfast.

NEVER let a 4 year old make their own breakfast................................

and just because you have a pounding headache and can't be bothered to argue, you REALLY shouldn't let 4 year old eat very unhealthy breakfast of Mummys late night snack of chocolate pillows and tooti fruitis!

When 4 year old swears at you, you SHOULDN'T put washing up liquid in their mouth because after evil dissaproving glares from Daddy, a mouthful of abuse from teenage daughter telling you what an evil Mummy you are and 4 year old stomping up the stairs shouting out that 'that was f****n gusting' you really don't know weather to laugh or cry!

When said 4 year old wets the bed, you really SHOULD get up, change him and wet bed instead of (with barely one eye open) stripping him off and putting him in your bed because a couple of hours later you will be woken abruptley by your Man jumping out of bed and shouting a load of obscenities, in your broken sleep you will realise that 4 year old has proceeded to wet your bed too!

I think I could possibly make these BAD MUMMY posts a weekly thing!

After some serious bloggy wobbles, I've decided to return to 'The Ramblings of an Everyday Mummy'.

I've missed being here, I really have but I felt like I had nothing to say anymore, even tried my hand at a new blog but it just didn't feel right.

So, here I am, back to my roots where I will blog/ramble about my life as an everyday Mummy.

There will be a lot less crafting here now as I've found this takes Me away from being the best Mummy I can be and my children need Me a lot more than I need crafting.

I want to enjoy my last year with my little man at home before he starts school and be there for my some what hormonal teenage daughter on the rare occassion she decides she wants Me to be.

So here I am *B* ready to ramble again, it feels good to be back!

Arrietty

Back before Christmas I was asked if I would like to review Studio Ghibli's new film 'Arrietty'.............................

I jumped at the chance but due to life being so busy I'd not had chance to watch untill yesterday, funnily enough the day it was actually released.

Having been poorly for a couple of days this was a perfect 'snuggle under the duvet' film.

'Ghibli's' take on the Borrowers, it was a very sweet, easy watching film that I would happily watch again, actually I already have, my little man insisted on putting it on again this morning.

He joined Me last night in watching andI just wish he was able to put into words what he thought of it as I'm sure he didn't blink once, he was totally mesmorised but what I can only describe as a 'soft and gentle' film.

A must for any 'Ghibli' fan and even if you're not, I'd still highly reccommend adding this to your dvd collection.

With only a week to go, I thought I'd pop in and wish you all a very............................

I was a little concerned that I was making a mistake by starting over with Pink Milk and Cocopops but must confess to loving my new home.

A fresh start is always good and with a New Year approaching us, it seemed like perfect timing.

I noticed today that I'm at 49 followers, one more to 50, I do like round numbers, I think a post Christmas giveaway will be on the cards once I hit 50.

I'd like to thank all those whoo have followed Me over but must confess to feeling a little sad that some of my favourite blogers who although have followed aren't popping in to say HELLO.
I'm very much hoping this is because they are just far too busy with the festive season and not because they don't like my new home.

End of the road and new beginnings

Last night I slept!

I slept properly for the first time in a long time!

Maybe coincidence or maybe because of the decisions that have been made!

After a spout of bad behaviour from my little man I realised I wasn't being the best Mummy I could possibly be!

Always BUSY BUSY BUSY, rushing around, stressing over things that didn't need to be stressed over, something had to give and that was 'BekiMarie'

My little man needs me more than I need the paypal pennies, I will maybe go back to the making and selling once he starts school but with less than he year before he does I want to make the most of every moment.

I will of course continue to make but purely for myself and friends and family when the need arises.

This now brings me to here on my blog, I have tried (and failed) on a few occassions to start afresh but have always returned to 'The Ramblings of an Everyday Mummy' except it's not that anymore.
It's 'BekiMarie' and has tied in more with my making and selling.
This really isn't what I want my blog to be and yes I could start posting more on my everyday life again and stay here but as I near 400 followers I really do feel as though it's it's the end of the road here for Me.
As the New Year approaches I need a New Beginning, a fresh start and I really do hope that you, my loyal readers will come and join Me over at 'Pink Milk and Coco Pops', my new little corner of the blogosphere.

I have loved every minute of my 3 years here but sometimes we have to move to pastures new!

I have made some wonderful friendships but I know for sure which ones of you will be joining Me on my new adventure and who knows......................maybe I'll make more now!

I absolutely loved her first book...............................

And when I say love, I really do mean love, it's up there in my top 5 fave books!

I (cyberly) met Karen when the little man was a newborn through the Mumsclick forum, we soon became FB friends and it was she who led me to blogging through her original blog Pink Cupcakes.
Sometime later Karen started her blog 'The English Writer' which is a wonderful read but sadly she doesn't blog as often now!

I can't reccommend Karen enough for her wonderful style of writing and I happen to know that she is doing an offer at the moment, both of her books for £10, so why not pay her a visit!

Teeny Tiny Book

I have just got out of a much needed scorching hot bath after for what seems like hours freezing my boobies off waiting for Santa.
As it turned out, he couldn't get down our street, thank heavens for my Man and his extra long legs who grabbed the little man and strode off after him, just as the tears were about to come.
Picture Me...................... catching them up several minutes later, huffing and puffing away 'hehe', quite a sight to see I'm sure!

Todays advent gift was 'CHOCOLATE' ............... 'NOM NOM'

No piccies I'm afraid, I scoffed the lot whilst making my teeny tiny Christmas book............................

I can't wait to make more with different themes!

Tomorrow I'm going to get it copied and a few copies printed off in the hope it will look OK and pop in with some of my Christmas gifts!

Playing with paper

I'd forgotten just how much I love playing with paper and glue!

Not being very good at just siting and chilling of an evening (I really wish I could), I decided to get the Christmas scrapbooking papers out sent to me in the decoration swap by my lovely friend Judith and have a play.

A Christmas journal was the most obvious choice for Me and I was quite pleased with how it turned out..............................

the inside has been filled with Christmassy papers too but still needs some tweeking........................embellishments, tags, ribbons, buttons, whatever I can get my hands on in fact.
I do love to see a journal bursting at the seams!

My little man who was unable/unwilling to settle last night, joined Me at the table and created his own little masterpiece......................

Isn't it fab?

Just like his Mummy, he's at his happiest when sat down crafting!

Well, today is Day 6 of the advent swap and I'm loving seeing what everyone is opening.

Today was a real delight for Me, just look at this beautiful notebook ..................................

Catch Up

The fair went OK on Saturday, I sold some stock and made some pennies

But Myself and other crafters felt a little robbed, instead of having us in the main hall like previous years they put us in classrooms which meant we didn't get a great flow of buyers.
That said, I made enough pennies to buy a few extra Christmas presents so I was happy.
I am wondering if it's all worth the stress though, having now packed my machine away, today has been devoted to my little man and not having Mummy stressed out and rushing around like a headless chicken, he has been a completely different child.
It is certainly making Me re-think things a little, I dont have that long left with him home now and I want to enjoy and make the most of every moment!

Whilst out on Saturday my Men (big and small) went out and bought a tree, although when they popped into the fair to say hi, little man ruined the surprise and told Me 'hehe'
Yesterday was spent pre-Christmas blitzing the lounge (I'm ashamed to say all the piles of crappity crap belonged to Me) and then decorating the tree................................

This was the first yearthat there was no tantrums from Me because I couldn't get it just so, it's not a great pic but I love my tree.

I also treated myself to a little one...............................

for my fireplace, with my christmas yankee burning away it's feeling very Christmassy and cosy here.

A little scare

I couldn't sign in to Blogger, it wanted my mobile no. for verivication which I wasn't willing to do.
My gorgeous girl had the idea of using her no. as she's in the process of changing her phone anyway. So we added her no. then typed in the verification number.....................................

BAM, my whole bloody blog............................GONE!

My lovely fiend Lynda checked at her end and YES it had been removed, I've heard of this happening before but like anything you never expect it to happen to you :o(

I cried...........................all those memories ................ gone!

Thankfully it seems to of rectified itself now but I'm wondering if it was a sign, a sign to start afresh like the lovely Kazzy from Country Rabbit did.

I have thought about this a few times in the past,so maybe now's the time to do it, hmmmmmmmmmmm maybe a little more thought first!

Chilly, Chilly, Chilly, A book and Cards!

Oh my the temperture has dropped here, it is some what nippy and my little tootsies are froze.
I'm just taking a little time out to put my feet up for an hour and enjoy a steaming hot choccie and flick through the latest Mollie Makes..........................

before taking myself off to see 'Breaking Dawn'

Super excited but have a feeling my bestie and I may be the oldest there 'hehe'. We only have a little cinema (which happens to be the oldest purpose built cinema left standing in the country) and I think as it's opening night tonight it may well be full of teenagers.

As you know (if you're a regular reader) I'm a real book worm and I'm trying very hard not to start a new book at the moment (so lots of magazine flicking to be going on here) as I've ordered.......................

The Christmas countdown has begun........................

Last night I finally got to see the coca cola lorry......................

Advent calenders were opened this morning, chocolate before 7.30am...........................YUCKY but the kiddies insisted and the first of my advent gifts from Sue @ The Krafty Cupcake have been opened.

A gorgeous Reindeer puff...........................

to add to my collection of puffs and now sitting proudly on my fireplace!

That wasn't all though, there was an extra gifty in the box so I of course ripped that open too, one of Sues lovely Christmas hangers.......................

BUSY BUSY BUSY

Yesterday was the day from hell, I won't bore you with details but I'm really hoping today is better.
The sun is shining so that's a start!

On a brighter note, never one to be able to resist a giant teacup, I was very pleased with my thrifty £1 find.............................

I would normally use my oversized teacups for cereal bowls but instead popped a tealight in this one, creating a warm cozy glow, team that with my delicious 'spiced apple' melts sent to Me by my lovely friend Kandipandii and I was able to relax a little come last night.

I also had a play with my little tree..........................

ready for my table on Saturday!

I have been BUSY BUSY BUSY making felt decorations ..........................

to go with my wooden bits and bobs and today I have the tedious job of pricing everything up but I have my elves here helping Me thanks to the Teachers strikes so should be able to get everything finished today........................hopefully as I really need a break now!

Friday, my bestie and I are off to see 'Breaking Dawn', very excited and nice to have something to look forward to then of course Saturday is the day of the Christmas fair which I'm also looking forward to.

After that I may be able to concentrate on Christmas, have just read that it's only '25 sleep'.............very exciting!

Dear Santa

I know that with only a month to go till the big day, you must be in a state of shock to not of received a list as long as my arm from Me.

The truth is....................

there's not an awful lot I want!

I know, I know, BekiMarie not wanting a lot, it is a bit of a shocker isn't it?

Now don't get Me wrong, I'm not saying I don't want Anything because I do have an Amazon wish list full of books but I'm happy to wait untill the new year arrives for them, I would however love to find this..........................

under the tree Christmas morning!

Something to lose myself in whilst my Man cooks Dinner and my children play happily together (Read: squabble, fight and gorge on chocolate).

As you can probably imagine, by this time I was a little over whelmed, all the more so as I love LUSH, to me it's what heaven will smell like and yet no one ever buys me anything from there. So to have someone send me this instead of having to buy myself was a wonderful treat indeed!

I am saving these treats for the weekend where I am looking forward to a relaxing, candlelit bath and may even taker the choccies up with Me too 'hehe'!

Thankful that my 2 day migraine is slowly dissappearing, instead of the 'feeling like my head is going to explode' feeling, I just now have a niggly head and feel like all my enery has been sucked out of Me!

Lynda knew I wanted to try 'marshmallow fluff' so very kindly sent me some, still feeling a little queasy I've only tried a little but don't think the pot will last too long.
I'm going to try it with nutella on toast when I'm feeling 100% 'hehe'

Busy, Busy, Busy

WOW, has it really been a week since I last posted, where does the time go?

It's certainly beginning to feel a lot like Christmas here, today I've had a sparkling cinnamon yankee burning and orange slices in the oven baking, to make these.......................

and I haven't been able to resist playing a few Christmas tunes 'hehe'.

I've also been making up some sweet simple little Christmasy gingham hearts and stars..............................

and I'm being kept busy with orders for Gingerbread houses.......................

Plus I'm trying to get enough pretties made up for my upcoming Christmas fair in a couple of weeks and let's not forget all the handmade gifts I'm meant to be making, panic is starting to set in now.

It really isn't long untill Santa comes down the chimney or in our case lets himself in the front door with the magic key we leave out for him ;o)

Last Saturday, I thought Christmas had come early when I received my first Christmas swap from our lovely Annie.

I'm a little behind with my swaps I'm afraid and having a poorly sick little man yesterday meant a day snuggled on the sofa so a day wasted on the crafting front but I'm not complaing. However much I dislike my babies being ill, I do love the snuggle time.
He's back to his normal self today (although full of a cold and cough) and running me ragged 'hehe'!

It's time to dig out the wooly hats and mittens, it has turned bitterly cold here but I'm not complaining, I love the winter months plus I have a new knitted teddy bear hat and mittens to wear 'hehe'.

I'm thinking that on my little mans next nursery free day we might go for a nice winter walk up through the woods or along the beach.

I don't think my puddy cat.......................

is much liking this weather though, I think he may have a bout of 'SAD'.

Crazy as it sounds he seems really depressed, I have been spoiling him with naughty treats and cuddles but that doesn't seem to be cheering him up.
It's really starting to upset and worry me now, he's such a cutie pie, I really do hate to see him like this.

I spent Sunday as I spend most Sunday's in my PJs, I love PJ Sundays and have been known to get quite cross if for any reason I actually have to get dressed on this sacred day. It is my one day of relaxing and doing what I want to do which this week was sewing.

I knocked up a large Gingerbread man...................

and filled them both with a delicious Christmassy spice!

They will both be soon making their way to new homes and I really hope the ladies in question like them!

Today, my Mum and I went out for a belated Birthday lunch...............Scampi and chips followed by chocolate fudge cake 'nom nom'.
I'm still stuffed now 'hehe'.
I was then treated to a couple of books................

I love both Nigella and Jamie and am totally obsessed with cookery books so a perfect gifty for Me, I will sit and devour them later!

I think the time has come for a nice hot bubbly bath followed by a hot chocolate but before I go I want to leave you with these.....................

What I bought and Thank yous!

As I mentioned yesterday, Lynda, Lisa and I all met up at the NEC for the Christmas Craft show and whilst an obscene amount of money seemed to be spent, I didn't come home laden with bags like I expeted but I was very happy with what I did come home with..........................

A latch hook rug making kit.......................

Not sure how long it will take Me to make up but will be putting it in the little Mans room once finished!

Lisa spotted and drew my attention to this...........................

and I'm so glad she did, it's right up my street, I'd not heard of this before but looks like so much fun and there's some great ideas on pinterest too.

We all bought some Mannuka Honey creams too, a hand and night cream for Me and I also picked up a moisturizer for Jess.

Now these...................................

were going to be my first purchase but the girls had already decided that whatever I went to buy first they would in fact buy it for Me as a Birthday treat.
Very naughty of them but very much appreciated, they really did make my day so special!

Not only did I receive parcels from Lisa and Lynda yesterday but also from Sue @ The Krafty cupcake...............................

A gorgeous moleskine notebook and monster postcard...................

there was also some lovely stickers too which seem to of dissappeared (I will be having words with my kiddies!

From a lovely twitter friend Judith, I received a gorgeous pillow hanger........................

I can't believe she was worried about sending this to Me, it's so pretty and it's now taking pride of place hanging on my wardrobe!

Happy Birthday to..................

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

No longer a 40 year old woman but a woman in her forties!

Today started like any other Birthday in this house, pressies in bed with a relaxing morning and then off to McDonalds for lunch (cheap date Me) and then a meet up with my first born at Starbucks for my latest addiction.................................eggnog latte and I'm blaming Lynda and Lisa for this!

Which brings me to the best Birthday treat a girl can have!

Yesterday I met up with this gorgeous pair at the Christmas Craft Fair at the NEC,not only did it feel like we'd known each other for years but I have 2 new friends for life now.
We had an amazing day (which went far too quickly), they both made the day very special and spoilt me rotten with lunch, coffee, fairy cakes.........................

and a wonderful gift of promarkers!

As if this weren't enough I received parcels full of deliciousness from them both today too, I'm almost too embarrassed to show you, I feel so spoilt but what the hell, it's my Birthday so I'm allowed to brag 'hehe'.

Well, as normal as it gets in the BekiMarie household anyway!

I always dread the return of school after the holidays, I love having my girl home and the lazy mornings and today didn't start off too well.

Some NUMPTY (which of course would be Me) forgot to change her alarm after the clocks changing and was up at stupid '0' clock, I think it's going to be a looooooooooong day.

That said, today is the start of what is going to be a good week, 'my Birthday week' and what better way to start than with a party and a Halloween one at that.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life

There's a new girl on the block.................Dotty's Heart, go say hi and tell her Beki sent you.

She started her first post with 'Today is the first day of the rest of my life', very appropiate for Me at the moment, fed up with this black cloud hanging over Me and not knowing why I have treated today as such.

I have so much in my life to be thankful for which is why I can't understand why I feel this way and therefore I get so angry with myself which of course doesn't help but I am determined to shake this damn cloud!

I have decided to take a break from the whole making and selling, so many ideas in my head all the time I often feel like it's ready to explode.
I have people waiting on orders but I'm afraid they're going to have to wait a little longer, I know that sounds harsh and very unbusiness like but my family and my sanity are so much more important.
Once I have caught up with orders (if people still want them) then I will only sell what I have made and will no longer take orders.

Yesterday I was advised to try something new to try and clear my head so I did, I *tried* to draw, doodling is one thing but drawing, well................................. but do you know what I'm not even embarrased to show you as it did help and I really enjoyed it to.

People say that stroking a cat helps to relax, I find playing with this little fella.................................

really sends out the happy vibes, he's such a gorgeous, sweet natured little critter!

I've even reaquainted myself with my sexy pink DS, a great way to shut off my mind of an evening and today I cleared off my shelves of unwanted dvds (therapy in itself) and traded them in for...............................

these will certainly keep me occupied for a while!

Best of all today though on 'the first day of the rest of my life', I got to spend the whole day with the people I love most in the world..................my gorgeous babies, my bestie and her gorgeous daughter (my surrogate daughter), the only person missing was my man!

Yep, that's Me.....................Happy Go Lucky, always look on the bright side!

Sometimes though, sometimes I wake in the Morning and for no particular reason just can't seem to see the bright side.

It's these days that I want to bury myself under the duvet and shut myself off from the world.
Of course, when you have a family, you can't do this, you have to paint a pretend smile on your face and just get on with things.

Today was one of those days and no matter what, I just couldn't shake my dark mood and then it hit Me...........................

CAKE...........................

An hour in the kitchen with my little man = a plateful of cakes...............

and suddenly the world seems a much brighter place ;o)

CAKE is good, cake makes everything better again!

Now the time has come for Me to be able to bury myself under the duvet, tomorrow is another day and I'm hoping it will be BRIGHTER!

My little man fell out of the car straight onto his face, nasty bump to his head and a few cuts to his nose.
He spent the rest of the day (understandably) feeling sorry for himself but come the next day had learnt to play on it 'hehe'!

Whilst out on my 'book drop' travels yesterday and thinking my little town could do with a bit of a shake up, it would seem someone else had been thinking the same and I came across..................................

This is the first time that I've seen yarn bombing in the flesh (or wool) and really did bring a smile to my face.
I have plans to add to see this in the hope that whoever put it there will know that there's a like minded person around town and my bestie and I have a list as long as our arm of other places we'd like to 'yarn bomb'!

A new fasination!

I have developed a fasination with Guerilla Art, that doesn't mean to say I want to go out and graffiti sides of buildings, all though that said.................. if I had the talents of Banksy...........................

then maybe I would!

I'm thinking more small scale.................

I love googly eyes and would love to see peoples reactions when popping letters in the post box or putting money in the parking meter to see a pair of googly eyes staring at them.

What about putting them on fruit in Morrisons and standing back and seeing how people react (this idea I like a lot 'hehe')

Yarn bombing...........................

I know this would bring a smile to my face if I walked through town and saw it, perhaps I should give it a go!

Two very simple ideas I like very much though are...................

A random letter taped to a lamp post just waiting for someone to read or leave a book on a park bench for someone to pick up, take home and read!

As I type I'm getting quite excited at the thought of trying some of these things, I think my little town could do with a bit of a shake up, watch this space ;o)

A cute little mousey that I knocked up last night now living in a pretty teacup..................................

Somethimes though, making pretty things day in day out can become a little tedious and even though I'm quite a girly girl, there is another side to Me, a side that loves Monsters and Superheros amongst other things.
So when I put a shout out on Facebook this morning asking for ideas for (un)pretty things to make, Halloween was very popular but when a lovely new friend mentioned ZOMBIES I knew this was the way to go!

I want to be kicking leaves, jumping in puddles and playing conkers with my little man not trying to find shade under trees!

A new friend and toy

I only popped into the pet shop with my bestie to get pigs ears for her dogs but came home with............................

Meet Theodore....................... isn't he gorgeous!

Along with the cage and all the other bits and pieces needed, my purse was a lot lighter but oh so worth it!

He is an adorable huge bundle of fur, a little nervous but so sweet natured!

You will have to excuse my childish excitement but I am in love, I think we are going to have a very spoilt little boy on our hands as the children can't get enough of him either!

You may well be seeing a lot more of Theodore!

I mentioned yesterday that it was our anniversary, well my wonderful man surprised me with a new toy and a pink one at that!

Get your minds out of the gutter 'hehe', it was in fact......................

I have been without a camera for a good while now and having to make do with my phone and picnik but now finally I can snap away to my hearts content!

FIVE YEARS!

My man and I have no plans to get married so instead we celebrate the day of our first date and todays the day!

Five years....................not long in the grand scheme of things but long enough to know that we love each other and want to spend the rest of our lives together!

Long enough to of bought into this world a gorgeous little man whom we both love with all of our hearts!

Long enough to of created a happy home life together!

Long enough to think the same and for the fourth consecutive year have bought each other the same cards 'hehe', next year I'll make!

It's not all been plain sailing, we've had our ups and downs (who hasn't) but it's been a good and happy 5 years and I very much look forward to seeing what the next 5 bring!

I am blessed with a loving, kind and patient man who loves me for who I am, who accepts my funny ways and never judges me.
On top of that I have the most gorgeous, amazing, crazy kids.....................what more could I want!

Fat Free Treats..........................

If only!!!!!!!!!!

The day has yet to come for someone to event fat free cupcakes and cookies so instead I'm having to make do with felt ones.........................

That's not to say I don't indulge in the 'real thing' from time to time, with doughnuts being a firm favourite at the moment (perhaps that will be my next felty progect), not your usual jam doughnut though I'll have you know but lemon curd, coconut and pecan. Oh my I'm drooling at the thought, so glad Greggs aren't open of an evening 'hehe'!

Anyway, enough doughnut talk, I've had a lovely relaxing afternoon sewing but sadly my plea on facebook for someone to send the cleaning fairies didn't work and the house is still a mess but life is too short to worry and there's always tomorrow!

Last night I stitched a gingerbread man but got so carried away I forgot to add a hanging ribbon, still I think he looks quite sweet sat amongst my wooden spoons................................

I've also been bust stitching reindeers, I was some what surprised when inundated with orders for these but of course I'm not complaining!

CLOUDS

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who left a comment on my last post and a special thank you to the very dear friends who text Me.
Not only did these comments mean an awful lot but it was nice to know I'm not alone in my way of thinking.
I have to be honest, this has left Me in quite a dark place at the moment, lots of thinking and pondering going on here but I will pull myself out of it so please bear with Me if I come across as not quite myself at any point!

With the need to craft today, I thought I should make something fun, something to make Me smile. So, what with Me having been doodling character clouds and J taking a liking to a certain one with a bow in her hair and Me spending most of my time with my head in the clouds then..................little felt clouds it was.............................

These ones have all found new homes already *sniff sniff* but my sweet little mis-shapen rainbow cloud...........................

is staying with Me!

I have a bit of a soft spot for cute little quirky softees so even with her mis-shapeness, she will be very much loved!

I am waiting on an order of felt from our lovely Annie so when that arrives I'm hoping to make more but on a larger scale!

Talking of rainbows, my bestie has just phoned to let Me know we have one outside, tis very faint but I'm wondering what our chances are of finding that pot of gold ;o)

I don't like to post negative things on my blog, this is meant to be my happy space but I need to get this off my chest.

Today, I found out an old friend of mine (someone I've not had contact with in a good few years for no other reason than we both moved on in our lives) died last year of cancer.

She'd be having stomach cramps for a couple of weeks, went to the Doctors and six weeks later she was gone.

This has knocked me sideways and I'm really not sure why, I've coped with death several times over.

Maybe because she was of the same age as Me and that makes you realise that our lives can be taken at any time.

Maybe because she'd not long given birth.

Maybe because she was one of the good ones, you know the ones I mean, one of lifes genuinally lovely people.

My last memory of her is a good one though, although the amount of alchohal that was consumed at the time I'm surprised I remember anything at all.

We'd attended a party together not even realising we were going together (her husband and my ex husband were work collegues), had such a great time that we ended up back at hers plying ourselves with more alcohal and talking and laughing about old times well into the next day.

Little did we know what the future had in store!

I have often thought of her over the years thinking I must make the effort to get back in touch, now it's too late (a harsh lesson has been learnt here)!

My heart goes out to her husband, children, parents and Brother!

I'm now going to take myself off for a long soak in a hot bubble bath, have a good cry and grieve for a friendship lost that is now too late to rekindle!

Whilst I love painting my little hangings, one of my bug bears is waiting for the paint to dry so in the hours that I'm working I've taken to doing a bit of simple knitting in between coats and it doesn't get much simpler than these wrist cuffs..........................

J has taken a liking to these so I think I will do some more, maybe with something other than flowers on them.

Did you know it was National Cupcake Week this week?

I'm trying to eat healthily at the moment but I'd normally use this as an excuse to eat cupcakes every day ;o) so instead I've designed my very own Christmas pudding cupcake.................

Doodles and Puffs

I'm a doodler!

As a teenager, my school books were covered in hearts and 'Beki 4 So and So' (with the So and So generally crossed out within a week to be replaced by someone else 'hehe')

When I saw someones doodles on Facebook, I thought wouldn't it be fun to have a doodle book rather than doodling away on scraps of paper, envelopes and the like.

So out came an exercise book (just like the ones I used to have at school, except this time I'm doodling inside) and a doodling I did........................

As you can see, the felt tip pens came out too...............................

I also love to colour!

Combining two of my loves.............hexies and wool!

A squillion little hexie puffs all stitched together to make a snuggly quilt, what's not to love?

I'll tell you what's not to love...........................

Having bought, downloaded and printed off the pattern I discovered I need to use
double pionted needles and three of them at that with a crochet hook thrown in too!

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With a skill level of 2, I thought I was on to a winner here, a perfect little progect to carry around with Me but I already have brain ache trying to get my head around the instructions :o(

Anyone up for a knitting hexie along and perhaps help Me along the way lol!

Fourth Attempt

This time last year I was teaching myself to knit, I knew the basic knit stitch but even casting on and purling confudled (is that a word) Me!

Fast forward to now and I'm feeling pretty proud of myself, it may of taken four attempts to get Me started but I am finally on my way to making myself a pretty lacey scarf..................................

Why four attempts?

*cough cough* (hangs head in embarresment)........................I'd copied the pattern down wrong!

Now if I could just master.....................

The Crafty Minx

Never one to resist a craft book and with this one......................

looking just up my street I found myself hitting the buy now button.

Upon delivery and having a quick flick through, I have to say I was a little dissapointed but today I have taken the time to have a proper look, my opinion has changed (yes I am very fickle 'hehe') and I love it!

This book is all about making gorgeous things from preloved items and written especially for non crafters who are desperate to be more creative.
That said, I personally think this is a great book for crafters, who like myself like quick, simple progects!

There are some lovely progects in here and I thought I'd show you some of my faves...........................

Little mans Christmas present sorted..........................

to be made by my Man, have I ever told you he can say (better than Me)!

I actually wouldn't mind one of these myself (hint hint hunni if you're reading)!

I have found myself drawn to the wooly jumper progects .................

Hoping for some Jumble Sales now in the hope of getting my hands on plenty of jumpers!

If your'e a crafter who's looking for simple progects for the cosy Autumn/Winter evenings and have a love of using preloved items or a total beginner who's not too sure where to start then look no further.

This is a great book to have on your shelf!

It only seems five minutes ago that J started school and yet tomorrow she will be entering year 9, where do the years go?

Rock 'n' Roll Lifetyle

I certainly know how to live, gone are the days of partying on a Friday and Saturday night and instead I take myself off to bed at 10.30 with knitting needles in hand along with a pattern and dish cloth yarn........................

sent to me sometime ago by my gorgeous friend Kandi.

I knitted untill my eyes gave in and then upon waking this morning, I took myself off downstairs to make my boiled lemon water (yes I'm on a health kick) then jumped straight back into bed to continue.

I confess to being a simple knitter and love the repetitivness of good ol' simple knit stitch, I find it quite theraputic and you don't get much simpler than this one.
So simple in fact that even I, a novice knitter wouldn't need the pattern again, I had it finished in no time.................................

I loved the simpleness of this so much that I've already started again, this time a face cloth..........................

I'm thinking with a bar of 'LUSH' soap, would make a lovely Christmas pressie!

My life may not be very rock 'n' roll but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Monthly Makes

This morning I posted about a Monthly Craft Club (see below), totally forgetting (hangs head in shame) about my darling friend Annies Monthly Makes!

Whilst I am still willing to go ahead with the Craft Club (if enough people are interested), Annies 'Monthly Makes' is more or less the same principle and if you're anything like myself then committing to this is enough of a kick up the backside to get me moving in the crafting department!

So, why not head over there, she has posted today about Christmas makes and has a Flickr group where you can add photos of your makes.

Whilst thinking out loud on twitter last night about starting a (real life) craft club, the idea was put in my head about a cyber land one!

Show off our monthly makes

Show our mistakes/fails in the hope there will be someone who can help us (mistakes are good, they are how we learn)

Maybe..................... have set (simple) progects

Hopefully................... have some guest tutorials and learn a new craft

I WILL try and work out how to do a linky thingyamigiggy but for now will post a list of everyone joining in and if they're not already on your blogroll then add them!

I will even add a button on my sidebar so anyone can join in at anytime!

My little man loves books as much as I do but I confess, I don't read to him as often as I should.
So, when I saw that Pip was hosting a Retro Readers Club with favourite childhood books and.............................

being the first one, I jumped straight in and signed up.

Both myself and my Man are Roald Dahl fans and have always said we'd like to read his books to the little man so this has given Me a much needed kick up the backside!

Rain didn't stop play

With the August Bank Holiday barbie having been planned for months, we weren't going to let the threat of rain spoil our day!

Instead, we all ran inside when it poured and left the men to it..............................

A wonderful day with family and friends and all the children were so wonderfully behaved, I'm wondering why we don't do this more often!

I'm afraid I can't talk about the weather without mentioning 'Hurricane Irene', my heart goes out to all who may be affected!

Time to chill for a little bit now and waste an hour or two on Pinterest, I think it's safe to say....................... I'm addicted!

Edit: The reason for todays barbecue was to continue a family tradition (on my Mans side) that stopped some years ago when his Grandmother had her first stroke.
We have all only just found out the reason for this tradition............ 30 years ago today my man was christened, 28 years ago his brother and 26 years ago his Sister.
This has quite choked Me and I'm now determined I will carry on this tradition for them. We have 3 little boys in this family who have yet not been christened, so maybe next year..........

Something to look forward to

I am very excited to see that Pip Lincolne is releasing a new book...............................

Sadly we have to wait untill October but that is just peachey perfect for Me as just in time for my birthday!

I have 'Meet me at Mikes' and 'Sew La Tea Do' and whilst I admit there are several progects I wouldn't attempt to make in these books I do love them so and are great EYE CANDY books!

I'm also looking forward to details on Pips 'Crafty Journal' too!

Talking of books, I made a start on this...........................

last night, only managed one chapter before my eye lids started drooping so don't really have an opinion as yet but hoping is as good as people have said it is!

I listed some new items in my FOLKSY last night and was very shocked (but also very happy) that my gingerbread people flew out and I had to re-list them.

I'm going to add oversea prices later on this evening and thinking about re-opening my Etsy shop too!

I'm off now to catch up with orders for Christmas word pegs, I'm so glad I'm not the only one with CHRISTMAS on my mind!

Run run as fast as you can........................

You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread person!

Five little gingerbread people (there were actually 10 but I couldn't fit them in) all in a row, all finished off with a pretty little bow.........................

I was intially going to use ribbon for the bows but I love the rough raw edge you get with the fabric.

With my gingham fabric out (oh how I do love gingham) and feeling the need to sew, I decided to knock up some hearts.......................

in preparation for the *cough cough* Christmas fairs, I will spend this evening closing up all the others I have beside Me.

I thought some teeny tiny hearts in a cluster.......................

would be fun too, although these very nearly didn't happen.

One of the hearts went missing, after a considerable amount of time searching I gave up untill later when my DD found it smack bang in the middle of the lounge floor, would of been impossible to miss.
Perhaps it was the little boy that my little man saw in his wardrobe the other day 'hehe'.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened to Me!

I can't believe we're nearing the end of the Summer holidays already, with less than 2 weeks to go I will sure miss J when she goes back.
That said I've not seen an awful lot of her, maybe that's why it's gone so quick ;o)
She certainly seems to of cost me an awful lot of money though, the joys of teens I guess!

Of course, with the return of school brings us Autumn............. my most favourite season.
I seem to be looking forward to it more than usual this year, bring on the cosy evenings, homemade soups and stitching by lamp light I say.
OK, maybe that's just a little fantasy of mine, I could never stitch by lamplight, my eye sight fails me lol!

Yes, I have a new banner and buttons to my Folksy, Facebook and Twitter and I really couldn't be happier with them!my name

Check out my Folksy banner too!

All designed for Me by the fabulous Angie at Artwork by Angie!

She really did do her homework, the only thing I was sure of was that I wanted a line with dolly pegs holding the letters of my name but she added my message hearts and cupcakes too and through reading through my blog she picked up on my love of pink and even added the gingham background (another love of mine).

If you're thinking of getting banners/logos done then I really can't reccommend Angie enough and a big thank you to my lovely friend Kandipandi for reccommending her to me!

All I have to do is work out how to add the wallpaper now, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Next step......................Business cards, I can't wait!

I have been busy playing, OOPS, I do of course mean working ;o) and have some new makes to show you!

If you look closely, it has a lovely blue wash and I think I might do a whole range of items with this and call it my 'FROSTY' range!

A few ideas have been tossed in the 'trash' basket but the above items have all had the go ahead from my little family and friends!

Another fave of mine are these word pegs................................

I made a single 'dream' one for my bestie some time ago and thought why not make a bundle of them. The only problem I have now is that my head is buzzing with different words I can add.

I've been quite lazy today as I've had my man home this afternoon but I did make some little heart message boards........................

My gorgeous daughter has been away for a few days but this one........................

will be hung in her room ready for her return tomorrow 'hehe'!

It is with sadness I take myself off to bed tonight and hope and pray that when I wake these animals have come to their senses.

I can not believe the images I'm seeing tonight........................

It would seem we are a country in crisis at the moment

Children as young as my daughter have been sighted, where the hell are their Mothers?

I mentioned on FB earlier that I was ashamed to be British at the moment but I was soon put in my place and I stand corrected, I stand tall and hold my head high......................... I am very proud to be British!

We must not let these BASTARDS drag us or our country down!

I can't access my Folksy account, it won't accept my password and even though I know it's the correct one, I've even tried re-setting it but nothing, no linky in my email box.
I know lots of you lovely ladies have your own Folksy shop so I'm asking, actually I'm begging you to check yours and let me know if you're having the same problem.
I'm really hoping that this is a blip on their part otherwise it may mean Me starting over with a new shop and new name which I really don't want to do!

Didn't we have a lovely time

With the rain lashing down today, I'm so glad my Bestie and I chose yesterday to take the kidies to the beach!

Soaking up the sun, splashing in the muddy sea............................

a walk along the pier and coming home with sand in places you really shouldn't have sand, a fun filled but exhausting day was had by all.

Once home, I looked around at the pile of dishes waiting to be washed and the litters in the lounge and decided to ignore them and chill with my Man instead.

We watched.....................................

whilst I munched on thorntons chocolates!

Now why can't every day be like this?

Exhaustion must of caught up with my little man this morning as after what seemed like an awful long time of running around the house, calling his name and not being able to find him (I'm sure you can imagine my panic here), this is what I found.............................

A good read needed

Having finished.............................

a little while ago and being the best read I've had in a long time, I am now struggling to find a book I can really get stuck into, I always have this trouble once I've finished a really good book.

Four damn books I've tried and not one of them is capturing my attention, as reading is my way of unwinding and relaxing at the end of the day this is starting to become a bit of a problem.

I would much appreciate any suggestions for a good book, I'm getting desperate now and if you haven't read 'Water for Elephants' then I highly reccommend you do!

Picture heavy post but you can blame Kandipandi for being so kind. generous and very very norty!

We had arranged a little private fabric swap and I received not one but two parcels of pure deliciousness.
The first parcel alone was like Chrisrmas, I certainly didn't expect another but don't worry I've given her a good telling off ;o)

The first thing I opened was this beautiful card.............................

being a lover of Russian dolls this now takes pride of place on my fireplace.

Too young to die

AMY WINEHOUSE.....................

A troubled soul indeed but there's no denying she had an amazing talent and she was certainly too young to die!

I have read many comments on facebook and twitter and it would seem people have mixed opinions with most in shock (all though I think we all knew this would eventually happen) and some thinking she bought it all on herself, maybe even deserved it.

No matter what though, she was someones daughter and I've read that her poor Dad didn't even know.
Can you imagine that, everyone talking about your daughters death before you even knew, I sure as hell can't!

Drink and Drugs are a terrible thing, they can take hold of you like a disease!

R.I.P Amy

I truly hope and pray that you find peace in death as you sure as hell never found it in life!

The face behind the blog

The new face behind the blog that is, well hairstyle anyway!

Yesterday, I went for the chop, no before photos but I went from shoulder length hair to this..............................

Whilst my man is none to keen, I on the other hand love it and have no regrets what so ever!

My gorgeous daughter was even braver, going from lushious long hair to having her pony tail chopped off to this...........................

Not only does she look bloody gorgeous but I love that she's had the confidence (something she was lacking for far too long) to not care what her peers think and just go for it!

She no longer looks like every teenage girl walking around town, she looks like an individual which is something I've always tried to encourage and after actually bumping into some of her school friends today who all loved it, I'm wondering how long it will be before others take the plunge too!

I hope the sun is shining wherever you are, it's glorious here, have a fabulous weekend!

Stalker and Swaps

No, I don't have a stalker (well not that I'm aware of) but I do fear I may fast be turning into one.
I love this lovely ladies makes and have bought a fair few and when she blogged about her felt rings the other day I ordered one straight away before anyone else could snap them up, giving her her fastest Folksy sale ever 'hehe'.

It's even prettier than I thought it would be

I love it so much that I've ordered another in torquoise!

I've also received a couple of swaps in the post this week, first up my fabric swap organised by the lovely Kandi.
I was partnered with Bee Happy and received some lovely fabrics.............................

and trims, buttons and a lavender bag (now hung in my wardrobe)......................................

It's a really bad photo but some of the trims are on a beautiful Alice in Wonderland card which will be used as a bookmark for my 'Everything Alice' book.

My second swap was from Julie at Toadstool house, we were partnered in my dear friend Lindas from Hookin with Laalaa 'magic yarn ball' swap and what delights I opened after spending an awful long time unravelling the yarn.

Facebook V Folksy

Another week (and very nearly a weekend too) flown by in a blink of an eye!

It's been busy busy busy here but a good busy, life in general has been rather busy and my painting has kept me even more so.

Not in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be posting out so many orders in my first week but I'm certainly not complaining, I love having something to do although I'm beginning to wonder where I'm going to find the time to get together enough stock for the Christmas fairs and a home party that I'm planning!

A couple of things have taken me by surprise though this week, the first being that the best seller has been my dolly pegs.....................................

pretty as they are, I didn't expect them to sell so well!

The second being that an awful lot of my sales have come through my BekiMarie facebook page, it is also through here that I've taken a rather large order for these....................................

for a young lady's 'sweet 16th' garden party (I really hope the weather brightens up for her).

Once done with the order I will also be listing these as magnets!

I quite like selling through facebook as there's no charges like with Folksy so to celebrate my sales through there I will very soon be having a giveaway on my BekiMarie page so if you're on FB then please do pop over and like my page to be in with a chance of winning.

Everything Alice

Being a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland, I knew the moment I saw this book.....................

I'd eventually order it and I'm so glad I did, a real feast for the eyes, a lovely coffee table book even for the non crafters!

Full of gorgeous craft progects and recipes, this book is a real 'MUST' for any Alice fan!

One of the reviews I read (which were all good) someone said 'lovely book but what would anyone want with a fabric covered teapot'..................................

Well' guess what?

I want this fabric teapot, love love love it and would look fab as a center piece for a Mad Hatters tea party Me thinks.

Of course you'd have to make these delicious biscuits.............................

and Red Velvet cupcakes..............................

too!

I can honestly say that there isn't one progect in here that I wouldn't want to attempt at some point, the first on my list being this gorgeous mobile......................

I can tell you, I was buzzing and on a real high

I am however sensible enough (sometimes)to know that this could be it for sometime and will now be concentrating on building up stock for the Christmas fairs, although will still be adding stock to my shop.

that the sun is shining and I've been able to get out in the garden and do lots of weeding, although have now run out of green bags to fill and I'm exhausted and aching.
Yes, it really was that bad!

I've ummed and ahhhed for sometime weather to buy this book or wait for the film and my man took the decision outof my hands. I've only read the prologue and already I'm drawn in, you've got to love a book like that!

Rain, rain go away.......................

One of the main attractions when we first came to view our house was the beautiful garden, a lovely walled off patio area leading on to a large lawn area with borders full of trees/plants/shrubs.
Sadly this has become the bain of my life, as soon as you've finished weeding you have to start over again (or so it seems), I am by no means a natural gardener (although I wish I was) and find it really difficult to keep on top of it.

Today my bestie and I had great plans of spending the day out there and getting it sorted, however the rain put a stop to that.
Instead we took a wander to the market (in the rain) and I treated myself to some new pots, lavender and herbs...................

and a daisy and hardy pink.......................

I do love daisies!

My ideal garden would be a little courtyard full of pots and a wooden bench full of cushions (when it's not raining) and hopefully the rain will die off tomorrow and I'll be able to get ou there and make a start on creating my own little courtyard haven, leaving the lawn and borders to my man I think ;o)

Keeping on the subject of flowers, look at my gorgeous hair clip..............................

bought from my darling friend Lisa over at Kandipandi, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it, I do like to wear a pretty in my hair!

Weathered beach huts and chocolate cupcakes, last night I took brush to board and came up with a couple of plaques.............................

You can't really see in the photos but they do have a weathered look to them.........................

these are now in the 'varnish, drill and string' pile which I think I really need to get on with before starting anything else!
