A few things I can't do without at the moment

This...................

really does seem to stop my skin from drying out.

I've mentioned my love of Body Shop body butter before but this one.............

although doesn't smell as good is even better. I received the honey and grapeseed oil one for my birthday and will definately be buying it again.

For those wind chapped lips...............

all the more better for being pink ;)

Finally, for my ageing face...................

Just for the record, I don't have wrinkles, only laughter lines ;)

I seem to of lost my crafting mojo at the moment, I took a deliberate break so that I could spend more time with my family but now it won't seem to come back. So many ideas floating around in my head and yet I don't have the motivation to do anything about them. If found then please return to me c/o bekisbloggybits.

Before I go i'd like to thank everyone who has left comments on the last 2 posts, it really helps knowing i'm not alone, thank you.

Take care

Mean Girls!

We've all seen the film (or i'm sure most of us have)

and unfortunately every school has them.

I remember them well and was quite often at the receiving end of their nastiness.

Sadly, in my daughters case, the Mean Girls are the ones she has grown up with, gone through primary school with, the ones that all have been welcomed into my home with open arms at some point or other.

Fortunately J has realised sooner rather than later that these girls are not the ones she wants to go through school with.
All I can do is sit back and watch and be there for her while she tries to form new friendships and tries to ignore the sarcastic comments and digs that she gets from the other girls because of this.
What is their problem anyway, why don't they want her to make new friends? Are they worried if one leaves the group they will lose face or perhaps others will follow.

I will certainly not let this situation get out of hand but at the moment she needs to find her own way without my interference but it pains me to see my usual bubbly daughter be so quiet and withdrawn at the moment.

What makes these Mean Girls so mean? I guess we'll never know, they've always been around and always will be.

What are your Teens and Tweenies wearing?

I'm easy going, open minded and not easily shocked but I did have to do a double and then triple take a while back when I saw what one of my daughters friends was wearing.

Jeggings tucked into knee high, sky scraper heeled boots with a tight fitting, low cut top showing more than a hint of lacey underwear.

This 11 year old being a very tall girl anyway could easily of passed for 17. Did she sneak out of the house looking like this? No, her Mother was with her and looking very proud too.

Whilst i'm happy for my daughter to wear fashionable clothes, even play around with make-up (within reason), I most certainly won't be letting her walk out of the door looking like the above any time soon, if ever.

My eldest being a boy was so much easier, the biggest fashion problem we ever hit was what named trainers he would have.
Having a girl and deciding what's acceptable to hang in her wardrobe is a whole new ball game.
She loves to try on high heels in the shoe shops, would I let her have a pair, absolutely not but would I let her wear a small heel on a special occasion (a weeding perhaps)? I'm really not sure.

Whilst she loves to browse through teen vogue and like her Mother dream about what she can't have, I am fortunate that she doesn't like to follow the pack and is quite keen to find her own style.
This is only a recent thing though and has in fact quite often been influenced by her peers which has led to many an argument. It is only now that she is maturing enough to realise that is much more cool to have your own style.

This..............

is the closest image I can find to what I think is acceptable for a young girl to wear.

What do you think, should young girls be allowed to dress like mini adults or should they be favouring jeans, tees and baseball boots?

I seem to spend most of my time with my feet tucked away in a pair of these....................

and when the sun finally makes an appearance, these...............

will be my chosen footwear (ok, maybe a little more glam)

Even our choice of holiday this year means my feet will probably be tucked away in something like this..............

It doesn't however stop me dreaming of prancing around in some of these.............

or these...............

either will be fine, i'm not too fussy ;)

I'd like to think that one day i'll be fortunate enough to own a pair and skip around like Carrie Bradshaw (prefarbly in New York) but in reality in answer to my daughters question "would you actually wear them Mum?", Hell no, they would be for lovingly looking at and stroking only!

For now i'll stick to New Look shoes (which I have to say I am a fan of) when something is needed for that rare special occasion.

I'm seeing a bit of a pattern here, anyone think i'm hitting a midlife crisis 'hehe'

Hope you're all having a great weekend

Animal print............love it or hate it

Today I admitted a guilty secret to a bloggy friend..............I love animal print!

My eldest son laughs at me as I prance around in my leopard print slippers, he thinks they're tacky and others have mentioned Bet Lynch.

Me? I think as long as you don't overload on it then it adds a bit of glamour and i'm all for having a bit of glamour in my life.

Would you want a leopard print carpet in your dressing room like Kimora

I'd love a dressing room full stop but I do think the carpet adds a touch of something special.

What about a zebra print chair

Do you think these....................

are too OTT

Would you have the confidence to wear an animal print coat like these famous ladies

I personally think you need to have a certain style to wear something like this. I would certainly stick out like a sore thumb if I wore something like this walking round Morrisons. I am wondering however if i'm too old to carry these off..............

Not quite Jimmy Choo but at £10 from F&F at Tescos, a real bargain!

So, come on ladies, what do you think, love it ot hate it?

Weightloss Wednesday

Beware of the low fat ready meals...................

Not only are the some what pricey and taste rather BLAH, they are not necessarily lower in fat or calories.
Whilst feeling rather lazy one night last week and bunging a low fat curry in the microwave for myself and crispy pancakes in the oven for the children (yes I know bad bad Mummy) I decided to check the fat and calorie contents.
I would of been better off having a couple of pancakes and a handful of oven chips, I might then of actually felt like i'd eaten something aswell.

My advice, everything (ok, most things) in moderation. Eat sensibly and healthily and cut down your portion sizes.

For a little treat, i'm really loving these...............

and fortunately for me, no one else in my house likes them.

My weightloss this week..............4lb

Before I go I have to leave you with a comment that was left on my post yesterday by Kissed by an Angel about her children...............I made then from scratch - they are far too precious.
I hope it makes you smile as much as it did me.

Take care
